A series of road improvement projects across the Eugene District the summer of 2016 will benefit visitors. Most of the projects are scheduled to begin in early July and continue through October. Crews will replace existing culverts with precast concrete bridge structures two near the entrance to Clay Creek Campground and two within the campground. The work will be completed in phases to ensure continuous use and access to the campground. An alternate route to the campground entrance will be available using Alma and Wolf Creek Roads.
Clay Creek is a favorite if you enjoy riverside camping with an interpretive trail to old-growth timber. The Siuslaw River is a salmon watch site that runs fast and cold during the winter months, providing exceptional habitat for coho and Chinook salmon that can be observed spawning during the fall and winter. The recreation site also boasts large group shelters available by reservation for group outings, weddings, or other events.
RV and Truck Length Limit: 32 feet.
