Cattle Point offers sweeping vistas of rugged, sandy bluffs, San Juan Island's south shores and the Strait of Juan De Fuca. The stunning backdrop of nearby islands, the Olympic Mountains, and the Salish Sea make the Cattle Point Lighthouse one of the most photographed lighthouses in Washington State. Recreational activities include hiking, picnicking, fishing, sea kayaking, watching wildlife, or viewing wildflowers. Cattle Point is available for day-use only. The site can be somewhat crowded during the peak use of the summer visitors can enjoy a more isolated experience during the shoulder seasons. Parking is limited.

Access to the site is along a paved San Juan County public road Cattle Point road. Parking is limited. Additional parking is available nearby at the WA DNR, Cattle Point Interpretive Center. Currently a Washington State Discovery Pass is required to park at the DNR site.
