Yellowbottom Recreation Site

Yellowbottom, established in 1964, is an approximately 13-acre campground and developed recreation site located at mile 24 of the Quartzville Backcountry Byway northeast of Sweet Home. It can be found beneath an old-growth forest canopy adjacent to Quartzville Creek Wild and Scenic River in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains west of the Middle Santiam Wilderness Area. The site offers a camp host, 22 non-reservable family campsites, a day-use area with 5 picnic sites, river access, hiking trails, vault toilets, garbage service, and a solar water system that provides potable water. An entrance gate is open for vehicle traffic from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm during the camping season of Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. Directions:

From Sweet Home Oregon, head east on U.S. Highway 20 and approximately one mile out of town turn left on the Quartzville Access Road heading towards Green Peter Reservoir and Quartzville Creek. Yellowbottom is located on the left side of the road approximately 24 miles up Quartzville Road.
