What is the Status of the Resource Management Plan?
The public scoping period for this planning process occurred in early summer 2010, and the alternatives were publicly reviewed in 2011. Due to the change of land status, and the calling out of specific characteristics of the San Juan's BLM-managed lands for preservation, conservation, and restoration, the Eastern Washington resource plan has been separated from the San Juan Islands effort, and two separate documents will be completed.
The work that has been previously accomplished and reviewed will again be shared with the public to analyze relevance and adequacy in light of the new status. In the meantime, the Spokane District has initiated the effort to create a Resource Advisory Committee specific to the Monument planning effort.
