Ascot Resources USA Prospecting Permit Meetings
In February 2012, the BLM announced that it is beginning the process to evaluate an exploration plan for hardrock geological prospecting northeast of the Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument. The purpose of this initial public scoping process is to determine the nature and range of issues to be addressed in the planning process, including alternatives. The scoping period ran until March 16, 2012.
The BLM held three public open houses to determine the nature and range of issues to be addressed in the environmental assessment, including alternatives. Members of the public will have an opportunity to hear from the BLM, U.S. Forest Service, and Ascot, and have an opportunity to comment on the prospecting permit.
NOTE: The public comment period for the EA has now been extended to August 15, 2012.
Comments will be accepted at the public meetings, as well as the web, email, and mail.
