We have one area that a local teacher helped set aside to give students here in Cottage Grove access to a modest tract of large trees and associated flora &fauna . That is slated for clear cutting under the proposed WOPR. That area also covers the source water for a local creek and an effective buffer for the watershed. Let s preserve these features and the trees that make it possible by finding other ways to replace lost timber revenues. A long term problem deserves a long term solution. A short-term liquidation of trees would create a large array of accompanying problems, give short-term profits for a few followed by long term revenue losses again (without extra trees to lean on a second time). For the next set of concerns I would like a reply from the BLM. Stream buffers and habitat for endangered species have been an important part of your management plan and now suddenly these considerations are no longer important under the plan revisions. The WOPR seems to go against any semblance of management with its increase of seven times the rate of cutting presently. How will the WOPR attempt to function under clean air and water laws?
