Dear BLM, I am very concerned about the management of federal forests under the Western Oregon Plan Revisions. I read the summary information and found all four alternatives to be unacceptable. I believe that the plans will likely lead to water pollution, will have a devastating effect on our old growth and maturing forests and will have a detrimental effect on global warming. Clearcutting and damage to soils from logging has been shown to release tremendous amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, while old forests absorb and store carbon dioxide. I would like to see a plan that concentrates on thinning overgrown previously logged public forestlands. I believe that Oregon should show the world that there is a method for providing for adequate jobs and incomes that doesn’t use clearcutting. This plan will obviously set a bad example for the rest of the world. Robert Schapper
