Planning Team, I am a resident of Cottage Grove, Oregon. I was born and raised here in Oregon. I love this land. The mountains, rivers, valleys and most of all our beautiful trees. I often take drives into the country with my children. We go hiking, we picnic by streams and enjoy this land. It is a great sadness to me to look out over the land from high up in the mountains and see the destruction. Our National Forest is destroyed. The majority of it is gone. When will it be enough? When there aren t anymore naturally forested areas standing? It is simply not enough to replant a clear cut. It will never be anything other than a crop for future harvest. With the modified Douglas tree s they are planting that have been developed to grow especially fast, it certainly doesn t take much to figure out that it is just a crop for harvest. I am asking that you take into account the people who live here and love this land. Also please try to respect the fact that the trees that have been cut down on public land has been taken from the American people. The sad thing is...most Americans don t even know that the forests are gone. They think they are still pristine and there because they belong to the people.
