January 10, 2008 To whom it may concern at BLM, I would like to go on record as objecting to the Western Oregon Plan Revision. I believe clear cutting to be very destructive to the environment, including our streams, watershed areas, wildlife and to our own existence. This method is so outdated and archaic. I also question the current modeling tools you are using. While visiting New Zealand several years ago, I was quite impressed with their tree plantations. The trees were planted just like a row crop. Perhaps this model would work here, especially in an agricultural setting. The ease of harvesting on a flat surface would be such a positive aspect. This would preserve our existing forestland for future generations to enjoy. My father also shares my concerns and opinions. Thank you.
