Subject: Changes to Interagency Memorandum to Field Officials for Transmission of Survey and Manage Survey Protocols - Protection Buffer Bryophytes v. 2.0

To: USDI Bureau of Land Management District Managers (Coos Bay, Eugene, Lakeview, Medford, Roseburg, and Salem) and Field Managers (OR: Klamath Falls and Tillamook; CA: Arcata, Redding, and Ukiah) and USDA Forest Service Forest Supervisors Within the Area of the Northwest Forest Plan

On December 3, 1999 we transmitted Survey Protocols for six Protection Buffer Bryophytes (BLM Instruction Memorandum OR-2000-017). We have noted two errors and an omission in these documents and are hereby correcting the errors. The errors are listed below.

In the Acknowledgments: Comments, corrections, and additions may be addressed to Ward Hoffman, Olympic National Forest, 1835 Black Lake Blvd., S.W., Olympia, WA 98512.

In addition, there is an error on Page 4 in "Section C. Additional Information to Collect" in the sentence: Include an accurate delineation of the population and area surveyed on a topographic map and aerial photos (Appendix D). This is an inappropriate reference to Appendix D (which is the cryptogam field packet), and "Appendix D" should be deleted from this sentence.

In reference to the omission, Appendix B is not complete in the approved protocols transmitted to the field units. They are missing several pages of field forms that are identified on the title page of the Appendix. Likewise, Appendix C is also missing some of the data dictionaries and field methods that pertain to the field forms in Appendix B. A complete set of the appendices, including copies of the two revised appendices are enclosed. Please use these copies to completely replace the appendices for protocols for Protection Buffer Bryophytes.
