Andrews/Steens Resource Management Plan
(August 2005) The Bureau of Land Management's Burns District has recently completed the Andrews/Steens Resource Management Plan (RMP). The Plan directs management in two distinct planning areas. One, the Steens Mountain Cooperative Management and Protection Area (CMPA), was established by Legislative Act on January 24, 2000, and encompasses approximately 428,156 acres of BLM administered lands. The Andrews Management Unit encompasses BLM administered lands in the Andrews Resource Area outside the CMPA, approximately 1,221,314 acres located to the west, south, and east of the CMPA. Both planning areas are located primarily in Harney County, Oregon with a small portion of the Andrews Management Unit located in Malheur County, Oregon.
