Definition:
How close, in feet, the spatial GIS depiction is to the actual location on the ground.  There are several factors to consider in GIS error: scale and accuracy of map-based sources, accuracy of GPS equipment, and the skill level of the data manipulators.  A value of "0" indicates no entry was made.  This is the correct value when the COORD_SRC is another GIS theme (DLG, GCD, DEM) because the accuracy is determined by that theme.  If COORD_SRC is MAP or GPS, however, a value of "0" indicates a missing value that should be filled in either with a non-zero number or "-1".  A value of "-1" indicates that the accuracy is unknown and no reliable estimate can be made.

Definition:
GIS assigned numeric (integers only) identifier for every polygon feature. GIS_ID is never duplicated in the database. Used in conjunction with SITE_ID to track changes in the extent of a weed population over time. If a site has increased or decreased in size, the old population extent may be kept for historical reference. The new population extent would be assigned the same SITE_ID value, but a unique GIS_ID value. The OC_CD value of new population extent would be coded "C" and the old population is changed from "C" to "H".

Process description:
2011 weed location inventory sites for Burns, Coos Bay and Eugene added. Earlier sites for Coos Bay also added. Unique GIS_IDs created. Except for Burns, SITE_ID was simply set to GIS_ID. For the other Districts, this may not be what is desired since it doesn't indicate whether a site is related to an existing site (in which case it would have the same SITE_ID) but has changed it's extent. There is a great deal of overlap in Eugene sites that will need to be resolved at some time to avoid a greatly inflated acreage. Multi-part polygons (thousands) were exploded and unique IDs added to all. There were thousands of "self-intersect" errors from creating sites by buffering roads and not thinning the vertices. A global thin (generalize) to 1 meter was done and eliminated the errors without significant change to the shape of the polygons. There were some SITE_ID/GIS_IDs that were too high (in the billions) to allow for concatenation of DIST_CD to make a statewide unique ID. These were dropped to lower numbers by subtracting a fixed number. Contact Pam Keller for specifics if needed. For the entire dataset REV_DATE and DISC_DATE were cleaned up to eliminate invalid values. Also if REV_DATE was blank and DISC_DATE not blank, REV_DATE was set to DISC_DATE. And vice versa. All remaining blanks and nulls set to "UNKNOWN".

Description: This metadata is displayed using the FGDC Plus Stylesheet, which is an XSL template that can be used with ArcGIS software to display metadata. It displays metadata elements defined in the Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM) - aka FGDC Standard, the ESRI Profile of CSDGM, the Biological Data Profile of CSDGM, and the Shoreline Data Profile of CSDGM. CSDGM is the US Federal Metadata standard. The Federal Geographic Data Committee originally adopted the CSDGM in 1994 and revised it in 1998. According to Executive Order 12096 all Federal agencies are ordered to use this standard to document geospatial data created as of January, 1995. The standard is often referred to as the FGDC Metadata Standard and has been implemented beyond the federal level with State and local governments adopting the metadata standard as well. The Biological Data Profile broadens the application of the CSDGM so that it is more easily applied to biological data that are not explicitly geographic (laboratory results, field notes, specimen collections, research reports) but can be associated with a geographic location. Includes taxonomical vocabulary. The Shoreline Data Profile addresses variability in the definition and mapping of shorelines by providing a standardized set of terms and data elements required to support metadata for shoreline and coastal data sets. The FGDC Plus Stylesheet includes the Dublin Core Metadata Element Set. It supports W3C DOM compatible browsers such as IE7, IE6, Netscape 7, and Mozilla Firefox. It is in the public domain and may be freely used, modified, and redistributed. It is provided "AS-IS" without warranty or technical support.
