Abstract:
HYD_PUB_SUBBASIN_WATERBODY:

This dataset contains waterbody features from the US Geologic Survey (USGS) High Resolution National Hydrography Dataset (NHD).  NHD waterbody features include polygons depicting Lake/Ponds, swamp/marsh, estuaries, etc.  Additional attributes have been added from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Aquatic Resources Information Management System (ARIMS).  This data will be refreshed as-needed to reflect updates to the NHD and ARIMS.

Supplemental information:
The High Resolution NHD in Oregon and Washington is stewarded by the Pacific Northwest Hydrography Framework (PNWHF).  The PNWHF is a regional partnership of federal and state agencies that provides cooperative stewardship and technical assistance in the maintenance of the NHD.

      The horizontal datum used is North American Datum of 1983.
      The ellipsoid used is Geodetic Reference System 80.

Why was the data set created?

This publication format is intended to improve the usability of the High Resolution NHD and ARIMS by combining attributes from both sources into one dataset with a simplified structure.   The publication format includes the most commonly used attribute information.  Other less commonly used attributes are available directly from the ARIMS system.
