Summary: The Cascades Resource Area has completed the Sunday Morning Belly Twister Timber Management Project Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact (EA). This EA is available for review. The project, located southeast of Scio in Linn County, proposes to harvest approximately 1,500 acres of 40-102 year old forest stands to provide for long-term sustainable forest production and to maintain /improve habitat conditions. The proposed action is to thin all 1,500 acres. An alternative looks at thinning 1,435 acres and regeneration harvests on approximately 65 acres. Sunday Morning Timber Sale Decision Rationale DOI-BLM-OR-S040-2014-0001-EA Planning Completed
The Bureau of Land Management, Cascades Resource Area has decided to implement the Sunday Morning Timber Sale (TS). The project was described and analyzed in the Sunday Morning Belly Twister Timber Management Project Environmental Assessment. The TS consists of thinning approximately 360 acres of conifer stands ranging in age from 37-77 years. Other actions include road construction, renovation, road stabilization and closures after harvest, culvert installation or replacement and fuels treatments.
