The BLM proposes to thin up to 2000 acres of previously managed stands (plantations less than 50 years old) over the next five years. The project would take place within the Quartzville Late-Successional Reserve, which is within the Quartzville Creek and Crabtree Creek 5th field watersheds, approximately 20 miles northeast of the town of Sweet Home, Oregon. The purpose of the project is to accelerate the development of late-successional forest conditions within younger previously managed stands and increase ecosystem diversity in these stands.
