| Summary: The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Cascades Resource Area has made a decision to thin 521 acres of forest stands averaging 40-80 years old. This project is located in T. 8 S., R. 3 E. Sections 31 and 33; T. 9 S., R. 2 E. Sections 1 and 15; T. 9 S., R. 3 E. Sections 7, 12 and 13; WM. within the Little North Santiam River and Middle North Santiam River Watersheds in Marion County, Oregon. This project was documented in the FY 2006 Timber Sale Thinning EA (EA # OR080-04-20). An average minimum canopy closure of 40 to 50% would be maintained after thinning. Other actions include 0.4 mile new road construction that will be blocked and stabilized after harvest activities, and 80 acres of fuel treatments. | |
