Summary: Lead-contaminated soil around the Yaquina Head lighthouse will be removed and disposed of at an appropriate landfill. Other lead-contaminated soils east of the lighthouse will be treated with phosphated solution to immobilize lead in the soil and reduce leaching and effects on humans and wildlife. The work will take about five days to complete and is expected to occur in the fall of 2008. Revegetation will occur when soil and weather conditions are appropriate. Visitor access to the treatment area will be restricted during project implementation.
