| Summary: Aaron Horton, Salem District Manager, has issued a Decision for the 2009-2010 Salem District Sample Tree Falling Project based on Categorical Exclusion DOI-BLM-OR-S000-2009-000X-CX. This project will fall, buck and scale sample trees during the 2009 and 2010 calendar years to ensure the accuracy of timber cruises for future forest management actions. Trees would be felled only in areas that have been planned, marked and cruised for commercial timber harvest, and the felled trees would be a subset of the trees designated for removal in the timber harvest areas. The proposed action would be implemented on timber sale projects on the Salem District as a precursor to timber sale contract preparation. | |
