BLM Engaged in Molalla River Planning Effort
The Salem District is currently engaged in the development of a recreation area management plan for the Molalla River-Table Rock Special Recreation Management Area. The planning area, 11,875 acres of BLM-administered land, includes the Molalla River Recreation Corridor, Molalla Shared-Use Trail System and the Table Rock Wilderness. The area is a popular recreation destination for swimming, camping, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, boating, and biking.
The purpose of this effort is to guide and facilitate the recreational use of these lands for the next 15 years. The final plan will outline a comprehensive strategy for recreation management including potential site development, river access, wilderness access, visitor services, and trail use.
Public involvement is an important part of this planning process. A public meeting was held October 7th, 2008 to solicit input on important issues within the Molalla-Table Rock area (see below for a compiled list of received comments). Future public meetings will be held to obtain comments regarding potential management actions. Meeting times, locations, and topics will be posted on this site.
