Course Description:

The course presents fire behavior principles and terminology for fuels, topography, and weather.  It shows how they are interrelated and apply to field situations.

Target Group:

Trainees will demonstrate knowledge and determine basic input data for fire behavior calculations: rate of spread, fire line intensity, flame length, and area/perimeter growth using fire behavior prediction system( nomograms and/or HP71B computer).  Trainee needs to be familiar with “Behave” prediction system on the HP71B.

Prerequisites based on the Field Managers Course Guide :           

I-200 Basic ICS, S-130 Firefighter Training,
S-190 Intro to Fire Behavior,  S-290 Intermediate Fire Behavior
