Course Description: |
Entry level course providing training in the functional roles and responsibilities connected with firing operations. The course covers planning, ignition procedures and techniques, and equipment applicable wildland and prescribed fire. Course also addresses the role of the ignition specialist or firing boss as the organization manages escalation from a non complex to a complex fire situation. |

This course is not intended to qualify or certify any personnel in the use, storage, or transport of any firing device. Rather, it is to provide the potential firing boss a description of available equipment and the requirements specific to each such device. |
Target Group: |
Positions of ignition specialist, type 2 (RXI2), firing boss (FIRB), or prescribed fire burn boss Type 2 (RXB2). |
