The Thunderbolt Hazardous Fuels Treatment project is a component of the Thunderbolt Thinning and Hazardous Fuels Treatment Environmental Assessment (# DOI-BLM-OR-R040-2010-011-EA). The project consists of two types of hazardous fuels treatments, the construction of a shaded fuel break (approximately 86 acres) and roadside fuels treatment (approximately 7 acres) through implementation of an understory thinning and pruning prescription (on trees less than seven inches diameter at breast height), shrub treatment, and hand piling of small fuels. No merchantable timber will be removed from these areas. This project is located in the Little River and Middle North Umpqua River Fifth-field Watersheds in Sections 25, 26, 27, 29, 31, and 33 of T. 26 S., R. 2 W., Willamette Meridian.
