The Swiftwater Field Office proposes thinning and density management of approximately 987 acres of forest stands that are 41-62 years old in the Upper Smith River Watershed. The project area includes lands within the General Forest Management Area, Late-Successional Reserve and Riparian Reserve land use allocations. Project actions would include timber harvest, construction of 3.6 miles of spur roads, maintenance of 45 miles of existing roads and decommissioning of approximately 5 miles of roads in two proposed timber sales, Halfway Decent and Halfway There.
