The proposal is to perform limited archeological testing of ten acres at site 35DO383 located near the North Umpqua River between September 9th and September 20th, 2013. The purpose of this project is to conduct a public archaeology program, in partnership with the Umpqua National Forest, to determine the horizontal and vertical extent of the cultural deposit. Approximately four square meters of ground surface, in 1 meter by 1 meter units, would be excavated to depths greater than 100 centimeters. The units will be backfilled upon completion of the project.
