Environmental Assessment,Finding of No Significant Impact DOI-BLM-OR-P060-2012-0008-EA Planning Completed
This environmental assessment (EA) analyzes the proposed Tumalo Vegetation and Trail Management Project. The Prineville District BLM (BLM) proposes to reduce tree density (thin trees) and remove biomass on up to 725 acres of an 800-acre BLM parcel located three miles southwest of the town of Tumalo (Map 1). Implementation would begin as early as the winter, 2013, and may take up to six years to complete. The vegetation management project would be completed by using a variety of mechanized equipment and hand operated chainsaws. Harvested trees and biomass materials would be removed from the project area. Any residual material created by the vegetative treatments not removed from the project area would be burned or mechanically reduced and spread on site. Trees posing a hazard to people and their property would be cut and removed near private residences, along the canals, access roads and other right-of-way facilities.

Environmental Assessment DOI-BLM-OR-P060-2012-0008-EA Planning Completed
The comment period on this Environmental Assessment (EA) ended April 22, 2013. The BLM has made some minor changes to the EA by incorporating additional information to clarify and address some of the comments made by the public during the public comment period. This slightly revised EA, with the Decision Record (DR) and signed Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI), has been reposted to the BLM public website. Please see the Decision Record for a summary of minor changes made to the EA in response to public comments, and for further information on the selected alternative.

Finding of No Significant Impact DOI-BLM-OR-P060-2012-0008-EA Planning Completed
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has completed an Environmental Assessment (EA), DOI-BLM-OR-P060-2012-0008-EA, that analyzes the effects of two action alternatives that would thin ponderosa pine and juniper, designate 10-12 miles of non-motorized trail, control public access, and develop a small parking area on an 800 acre parcel of BLM-administered public land located three miles southwest of Tumalo, Oregon. The EA is incorporated by reference in this Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI).

Decision Record DOI-BLM-OR-P060-2012-0008-EA Planning Completed
The Prineville District of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) prepared an Environmental Assessment (EA) and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the proposed Tumalo Vegetation and Trail Management Project (DOI-BLM-OR-P060-2012-0008-EA). The actions included in this Decision Record were analyzed in that EA, and will occur on an 800 acre BLM-managed public land parcel located three miles southwest of the town of Tumalo, Oregon (see EA Map 1). The EA considered alternate ways to restore ponderosa pine and juniper woodland ecosystems, reduce fuel loading in a wildland urban interface, and design and construct a designated non-motorized trail system .
