The Prineville District Office Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is currently in the process of completing an Environmental Assessment for the grazing lease renewal on the Home Ranch and Whiskey Still Allotments located southwest of Redmond, OR (see enclosed map). The purpose of the Environmental Assessment is to renew the grazing lease and analyze actions that would make progress towards meeting the Standards and Guidelines for Healthy Rangelands and gain conformance with the Upper Deschutes Resource Management Plan (2005). Actions being considered in the Environmental Assessment include implementing a grazing management system to provide for critical growing season rest, fencing out the Tumalo Canal ACEC to exclude livestock, and reducing AUMs in the Whiskey Still Allotment due to changes in available acres within the allotment.
