| Summary: The proposed action is to install three cattle-guards at different locations on existing Deschutes County Roads. The cattle-guards are named McGrath, Kayaker, and Bad Dog. See the attached map for locations. Each cattle-guard would be 4 feet by 12 feet and would require a trench approximately 6 feet by 14 feet by 16 inches deep for the cattle-guard base. In addition, adjacent to each cattle-guard, a four wire gate would be constructed for use by horseback riders. Each gate would be 10 to 12 feet wide with the bottom and top wires barbless and the middle two barbed. The cattle-guards are needed because the county roads are heavily used by the public and the gates are frequently left open. Loose livestock in this area would have access to adjacent residential subdivisions and potentially Deschutes Market Road and Highway 97. | |
