Wildlife Emphasis
The UDRMP designated different portions of the CBRA as Primary, Secondary, or General Wildlife Emphasis. These areas are shown on the Wildlife Emphasis Map:

They are defined in the UDRMP as:
Primary – designates that wildlife is one of the most important management considerations for an area. Areas allocated to primary wildlife emphasis are intended to benefit wildlife and retain high wildlife use by applying specific guidelines.
These guidelines include:
- Where possible, maintain large, un-fragmented patches
(1,000 to 2,000 acres). - Where possible, manage for low densities of motorized
travel routes open to the public (less than or equal to 1.5 mi/mi2).
Secondary – a designation where wildlife is one of several resource
management programs that are of focus in an area and typically
receives a slightly lower, but still significant, level of management
consideration. Areas allocated to secondary emphasis are intended to
support wildlife and maintain a moderate level of wildlife use.
Guidelines for secondary wildlife emphasis areas include:
- Maintain moderate size, un-fragmented habitat patches (400 to 800 acres).
- Target low to moderate densities of motorized travel routes open to the public
(approximately = 2.5 mi/mi2).
Wildlife habitats are typically not the focus of management in these areas.
The Wildlife Emphasis map also shows areas identified in the UDRMP process as Deer and Elk
winter range.
