Existing Management Direction

The UDRMP provides management policy for firearm use in the Cline Buttes Recreation Area. The public health and safety map shows areas where firearm use is specifically regulated. A small parcel of BLM land located adjacent to Harper Road was designated as "Closed to all Firearm Discharge" – mainly due to the small size of the parcel and surrounding residential development.

A larger area between the Deschutes River and Barr Road was designated as "Closed to all firearm discharge unless legally hunting" – due to this area's management emphasis on designated trails for non-motorized use. BLM lands adjacent the Fryrear Road have a seasonal closure to firearm discharge to minimize impacts to raptor nest sites.
