Summary: The Butte Falls Resource Area has completed the analyis of salvaging a portion of the trees burned in the 2008 Doubleday Fire. Salvage is proposed on up to 220 acres. Salvaged trees would be harvested using tractor and skyline yarding methods. Slash from the salvage would be lopped and scattered, hand piled and burned, or excavator piled and burned. Salvage is proposed on matrix lands and would not enter riparian reserves or 100-acre spotted owl activity centers. Ten temporary operator spur roads totaling approximately 1.5 miles would be constructed and decommissioned the same year as used.
