| Summary: The BLM has decided to salvage 166 acres of timber blown down in a wind and snow storm event in January 2008. The storm resulted in widespread windthrown trees throughout the eastern portions of the Butte Falls Resource Area. Salvage harvest systems will include tractor (144 acres), cable (1 acre), and skyline yarding (21 acres). Existing designated skid trails will be used. There will be no new road construction. Salvage harvest will include wind thrown trees, damaged trees (trees with no green), and trees hazardous to workers and the public. No salvage under this project will occur in Late-Successional Reserves or Riparian Reserves. | |
