| Summary: The Lower Graves IVM Project's purpose and need is to implement forest management activities that would produce a sustainable supply of timber and other forest commodities, control stand density to maintain stand vigor and health, create diversified stand structure and enhance structural complexity and composition, and reduce natural and activity fuels. The Grants Pass Resource Area of the Medford District BLM is proposing approximately 800 acres of Variable Density Thinning, 499 acres of Commercial Thinning, 175 acres of Density Management, 120 acres of Regeneration Harvest, 175 acres of Restoration Thinning and 262 acres of Hazardous Fuel Reduction Treatments. The total project proposal is 1,922 acres. The Lower Graves Project Planning Area (PA) is on BLM lands outlying the communities of Sunny Valley and Wolf Creek, Oregon.
