Summary: This decision documentation implements Alternative 2 of the West Fork Illinois River Landscape Management Project Environmental Assessment (EA#OR117-04-07). Harvest units under the West Fork Illinois timber sale comprise 228 acres. An additional 83 acres are identified and selected for harvest under Alternative 2, however, those acres are deferred for economic reasons and will be bundled into a future timber sale. Approximately 60 acres of light commercial thinning will take place within riparian reserves. None of the fuels treatments will be completed by machine masticator (slashbuster). ). The project area is located within the West Fork of the Illinois River watershed. The legal description is T40S-R8W-Sec 9, 20, 21,27, 28, 32, 33; T41S-R9W-Sec 2, 3, 9, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15.

Summary: An environmental assessment (EA) addendum for the West Fork of the Illinois River Landscape Management Project on the Medford District of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is available for public review and comment. This EA addendum includes an updated proposal and additional analysis of effects. The revised proposal would harvest approximately 72 fewer acres on matrix lands and two additional acres in riparian reserves. Four additional acres in riparian reserves would be treated for fuel hazard reduction. Additional analysis addresses the nominated Waldo-Takelma Area of Critical Environmental Concern.
