| Summary: Researchers will pen tame elk in 3 acre temporary pens at approximately 5 locations on the Medford District BLM. Elk would be observed for foraging preference for 24 hours and samples of selected vegetation would be collected for nutrition analysis. Pens would be constructed of two strands of New Zealand plastic electric wire. Researchers would camp on-site with the elk. No vehicles will leave existing roads and no camping would occur within 100 feet of streams. After the study is completed, all fencing material will be removed and all refuse will be packed out and disposed of properly. | |
