| Document Publish Date: 7/16/2010 | |
| Summary: This Environmental Assessment (EA) documents the environmental analysis conducted to estimate the site-specific effects on the human environment that may result from the implementation of the Plateau Thin Forest Management Project. The Plateau Thin Forest Management Project involves harvesting trees in conifer forest stands on BLM-administered lands in the Upper Jenny Creek sub-watershed in the vicinity of Howard Prairie Reservoir. The Environmental Assessment analyzes the implementation of an estimated 2,113 acres of timber harvest in conifer forest stands. The BLM proposes to utilize and maintain about 26.5 miles of roads (i.e., road grading, rock surfacing, and water drainage improvements). About 0.7 miles of temporary spur roads would be reopened or constructed to minimum standards, and closed immediately following completion of operations. The EA also identifies and discusses northern spotted owl mitigation, that if selected, would reduce commercial timber harvesting by 1,647 acres. | |
