| Summary: In June 2009, the Grants Pass Resource Area completed an environmental assessment for the Rogue River Corridor Restoration Project within the Rogue National Wild and Scenic River, Hellgate Recreation Section and distributed it for review and comment. The decision is to utilize a range of activities designed to achieve the objectives, management direction, and law contained in the Medford District Resource Management Plan, the 1972 River Management Plan, the 2004 Hellgate RAMP, the 1968 Wild and Scenic River Act, and comply with the 1992 Prohibited Acts. Specifically, the decision will implement: · Decommissioning of unauthorized / unneeded roads and trails · Improving and renovating of roads and trails · Installing barriers on closed roads and trails to deter unauthorized use · Converting some unneeded roads to trails · Installing signs, and educating users of authorized activities within the river corridor · Controlling noxious weeds utilizing an integrated pest management approach | |
