| NEPA #: DOI-BLM-OR-M060-2009-0030-EA Scoping Letter | |
| Document Publish Date: 6/26/2009 | |
| Summary: The Medford District Office of the Bureau of Land Management is proposing to renew the existing grazing lease on the Deadwood Allotment, located on the Ashland Resource Area. The proposed action would reduce the previously permitted use by 50 percent and would eliminate the late season of use (August 16 to October 15). The Deadwood Grazing Lease Renewal would permit 197 cows from June 15 to August 15 for a total of 394 Animal Unit Months for a term of 10 years. This scoping letter was mailed to interested individuals, organizations, and adjacent land owners on June 9, 2009 requesting comments to be submitted by June 26, 2009. However, we have received multiple requests for extending the scoping period. In order to allow time for people to develop meaningful comments concerning the BLM's proposal to renew the Deadwood Grazing Lease, we have extended the scoping period to July 6, 2009. Although comments will continue to be accepted after this date, comments received by July 6 will be the most useful to the interdisciplinary team as they work to develop and analyze the alternatives to the proposed action. | |
