ARRA Project (WBS)#: LXUAA1560000
Project Title: Records Verification for Renewable Energy Support
Index Map Locator #: 31
State: Oregon
Unit: BLM - State Office
Description:
Case records management for renewable energy applications has been hampered by the lack of reliable and up-to-date BLM case records information. The BLM must provide public access to reliable land records to assist in the identification of potential areas for renewable energy development as intended by the Recovery Act. In order to effectively manage and allow for expedited processing of renewable energy projects it is essential that missing data be collected and information be quality assured.
Recovery Act Funding:
The work to verify the records includes: updating the official land records to ensure currency and completeness, collect missing digital land records to reflect actual locations, ensure that all new applications and use authorization are recorded and are converted to digital form, and review and validate associated Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data that impacts Energy Development.
Benefits:
The collection, update, and quality assurance of the information used in BLM decisions and made available to the public will ensure that the Public's resources are appropriately managed. These actions will provide a repository of current and complete land records information. Without these records, the processing of applications for renewable energy will be delayed and potentially jeopardized.
