Description:
BLM provides land information to Industry and to the Public regarding what land is available for activities and what kind of limitations or conflicts may exist. Real-time accessible and reliable lands information is key to the renewable energy implementation effort. Spatial representations of land record information must be strengthened for quality assurance through field measurement and verification
Recovery Act Funding:
The work to strengthen BLM's land record information includes; reconcile differences between official records documents and digital representations, conduct field measurements to more accurately reflect actual locations on the ground, conduct land surveys in high priority instances, scan and geo-reference records, and acquire digital representations of boundaries that cannot be generated using other methods.
Benefits:
Easily accessible, quality assured land status information will significantly streamline renewable energy application and review process. Further the collection, update and quality assurance of the information used in BLM decision and made available to the public will ensure that the Public's resources are appropriately managed. These actions will provide a repository of current and complete land records information.
