ARRA Project (WBS)#: LXHAB1330000
Project Title: HRB Roseburg Biomass Utilization (PROJECT CANCELLED)
Index Map Locator #: 38
State: Oregon
Unit: BLM - Roseburg District
Description:
Dense vegetation along roads creates fuels that can ignite fires that could quickly develop into large wildfires. In addition, dense fuels along a road can hamper evacuation efforts and limit access for fire fighters.
Recovery Act Funding:
Work will begin immediately and will create approximately 8 to 9 jobs for a 12 to 18 month period. Work will be contracted to forestry-related workers, equipment operators, and truck drivers.
Benefits:
Clearing the brush from along the roads will reduce fire potential, provide better road access, and create biomass by chipping and transporting brush. Local facilities will generate electricity from biomass.
