ARRA Project (WBS)#: LXCAP0380000
Project Title: Huckleberry Communication Site Upgrade
Index Map Locator #: 5
State: Oregon
Unit: BLM - Eugene District
Description:
The replacement of the Huckleberry Communication Site building is due to winter storm damage and fallen trees. The building is currently leaning and impacting opening of the door. The condition is such that it is beyond repair. In part, the building houses the solar system that supplies the energy for the communication system. Security fencing will be added to the site to defray vandalism and compromising of the system.
Recovery Act Funding:
These funds will be used to complete the design and installation and construction of the structures and upgrade of the solar system.
Benefits:
The Huckleberry Communication Site is critical for employee safety in support of field going missions of the Eugene District. This site is located above snow level and there is no or limited access during the winter months. Upgrade of the solar system and batteries are essential to ensure continued system reliability and to maximize efficiency. There has been damage to this site due to vandalism. The fencing will help to deter this and prevent compromising of the system.
