Description:

The Medford District includes many historic mining areas which may have abandoned mines that have not been identified or properly evaluated for safety concerns.  This project will build on the current inventory of approximately 700 historic areas for abandoned mines by verifying known mines and detect unidentified abandoned mines.

Recovery Act Funding:

These funds will be used to complete an inventory of abandoned mines in the Medford District.

Benefits:

The Medford District will use the information to plan any needed remediation of environmental or physical hazards.
