ARRA Project (WBS)#: LDTDF0670000
Project Title: Washington Trails Maintenance
Index Map Locator #: 53
State: Oregon
Unit: BLM - Spokane District
Description:
The twelve trails projects traverse a wide array of landscapes spanning most of Washington State, including the channeled scablands/shrub-steppe of eastern Washington; the mountains, plains and rivers of central Washington; and highly scenic tourist destinations in the San Juan Islands. Nine projects involve trail maintenance; one is for trail planning, development and construction; and two are for sidewalk repairs.
Recovery Act Funding:
Trail work, using contracted youth crews of five to eight people, would occur for two summer seasons of three to four months. Planning for the Pacific Northwest National Scenic Trail would be completed in partnership with Okanogan County and U.S. Forest Service.
Benefits:
The trail improvements will provide unique and high quality visitor experiences in locations across Washington State, while detering off-trail use at high-use sites.
