Project Title: Heavy Trail Maintenance

Description:
Project consists of conducting heavy trail maintenance tasks on approximately 145 miles of trails on the Medford District. The objective is to utilize labor crews to address deferred maintenance needs and bring the trails back to standard. The work includes brushing, tread maintenance, and drainage improvement.
Recovery Act Funding:
This project will primarily be implemented utilizing existing partnerships (Pacific Crest Trail Association), and agreements with Northwest Youth Corps, Jackson and Josephine County Job Councils/Community Justice Programs, and through the development of a trail maintenance contract.
Benefits:
These trails provide opportunities for hiker, mountain bike, and equestrian use. The work will be done on several trails, including the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail (40 miles), and the Rogue River National Recreation Trail (23 miles). Other high use urban-interface trails include Cathedral Hills (17 miles), Table Rocks (4 miles), and Jacksonville Historic Landmark Trails (5 miles).
