Description:

The BLM’s Lakeview District manages several high-use roads that have an inadequate base and surface. These structures are severely damaged every year during wet weather and must be repaired each spring to make them passable to low clearance vehicles. Costs associated with this annual maintenance are significant.

Recovery Act Funding:

Project funding will be used to improve five roads by repairing soft sections, constructing a rock base and adding crushed surface stone.

Benefits:

Heavily traveled BLM roads in Klamath and Lake counties will be improved. Enhancements made will allow for year-round travel and reduce future maintenance costs.

Updates:

Road improvements are currently underway in Klamath County on the Bryant Mountain Road and Stukel Mountain Road. These projects should be completed in May 2010. The Sand Dunes Road project in north Lake County is scheduled to begin in June 2010. The Sunstone Corridor in the Warner Valley and Gerber Block Road in Klamath County will be improved this summer.
