Description:
The National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center (NHOTIC) is located approximately five miles east of Baker City, Oregon. This facility is one of two Oregon/Washington BLM Interpretive Centers. The average annual visitation to this 32,000 square foot facility is nearly 80,000 people arriving from locations across the nation.
The BLM is working to create a "Green Plan"to ensure compliance with an Executive Order (13423) that directs major renovations of agency buildings comply with the Guiding Principles for Federal Leadership in High Performance and Sustainable Buildings.
Recovery Act Funding:
This project is anticipated to take four months to complete and will employee two to three people. The NHOTIC "Green Plan"will be developed by an architechtural and engineering contractor during the Summer of 2009.
Benefits:
This project will help the BLM provide a written evaluation, proposal, and cost estimates of actions needed to bring NHOTIC into compliance with the Department of the Interior’s High Performance and Sustainable Building Guidance direction.
