Description:

The Loon Lake Recreation Area is located twenty-one miles east of Reedsport, Oregon on the southern Oregon Coast. With two campgrounds, day use and boating facilities, hiking trails, and interpretive programs, Loon Lake Recreation Area is the largest recreation facility on the Coos Bay District and serves 50,000 visitors every summer.

The aging infrastructure at the facility was constructed over 30 years ago, and is need of repair to ensure a safe and high quality recreation experience at the site.

Recovery Act Funding:

The project will create jobs in landscaping, paving, and fabrication over the next twelve months.

Benefits:

The maintenance and repair activities will include asphalt sealing, installation of a new entrance gate, paving near the park's maintenance shop, implementing a native vegetation landscaping plan, and replacing interpretive panels.
