Salem District Map

State: Oregon

Unit: BLM - Salem District

Description:

Due to the corrosive coastal weather and the location of the Interpretive Center on the headland, the windows and doors require constant maintenance and frequent replacement. This project will continue replacing the corroded steel doors and frames at the visitor center and improve the energy efficiency of the building.

Recovery Act Funding:

Work will begin immediately after the contract has been awarded.

Benefits:

With over 500,000 visitors a year to the Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area, this replacement of the existing corroded doors and windows will enhance visitors’ experience by providing well-maintained facilities that tell the story of the Bureau’s mission and the local history of the central Oregon coast. It is also essential to replace the current damaged door and window units to protect the artifacts and educational resources that are housed there for public use.
