ARRA Project (WBS)#: LADFR1340000
Project Title: Tyrrell Seed Orchard Pollen Lab Replace
Index Map Locator #: 8
State: Oregon
Unit: BLM - Eugene District
Description:
The existing pollen lab has been identified as a fire hazard by the Eugene District Safety Officer. The potential for a fire in this mobile home is severe due to the type of construction, electrical wiring condition, and age. Currently the seed/pollen operation is spread between several locations including a second story location in the equipment storage building which necessitates carrying heavy equipment up and down stairs and poses an employee safety hazard. This project is to demolish and replace this building.
Recovery Act Funding:
These funds will be used for design and construction/installation, creating an estimated 6 Full Time Equivalent positions.
Benefits:
All of the operations will be consolidated into one building making a safer, more efficient operation. This project will also satisfy the safety concerns that have been identified through annual safety inspections. The new building will meet all National Fire Codes. Use of sustainable practices and energy efficient designs and products will be used where possible throughout the construction of this project.
