ARRA Project (WBS)#: LADFR0710000
Project Title: Recreation Site Waterline Replacement
Index Map Locator #: 44
State: Oregon
Unit: BLM - Salem District
Description:
This project will replace the aging public drinking waterlines at the Wildwood Recreation Site, Fisherman’s Bend Recreation Site, and Alsea Falls Recreation Site.
These waterlines were constructed in the early to mid 1960’s and are well past their useful life. The existing piping is a combination of iron and concrete asbestos pipe that pose an increasing threat to the safety of the public using the water transported by these pipes. Recent maintenance work in the parks has exposed some of the concrete-asbestos pipe, requiring special repair procedures, flushing, and testing to ensure that the system is safe.
Recovery Act Funding:
Work will begin immediately after the contract has been awarded. Through a process of excavation and underground boring, waterlines in these three parks will be replaced with new pipes.
Benefits:
Replacing the pipes will provide clean and safe drinking water for visitors to these recreation sites.
